FAQ

Lists of answers that our customers’ most frequently asked questions regarding our turned parts production processes.

General QuestionsWhat do we do

What contract machining services do you offer? Do you have an area of specialty?

Our contract machining services focus on what we do best: producing precision screw machine parts using a range of technologies, including state-of-the-art CNC turning and CNC milling machines. For over 50 years, our customers have counted on us to produce high-quality parts from simple fasteners to complex mechanical assemblies for both prototype and production applications. We specialize in short runs and small lot sizes, and our typical runs range from 100 to over million pieces. While all our work is manufactured to print, you can see samples of some of the parts we’ve produced in our photo gallery.

What industries do you typically work in? Who are your typical customers?

It would be easier to tell you what industries we haven’t worked in! Our customers include heavy equipment manufacturers, general commercial businesses, and companies in the industrial, transportation, medical and consumer industries, among others. While our customers are spread throughout the United States, Europe and around the world, they all have something in common: the need for high-quality parts machined to print, on time, and within budget.

What equipments do you use?

Our equipments include Japan & German-made Swiss automatic screw machines, CNC twin spindles turn/mill machines, and a number of screw machines, capable of handling multiple materials and bar stock sizes. We also have equipment dedicated to second operations and various finishing processes. What’s more, we have skilled and experienced machinists (some with more than 20 years in the business) who know how to use our equipment to produce your parts accurately, quickly and cost-effectively.

What is your maximum diameter capacity for turned parts?

Our turning capabilities range from 3mm to 65mm in diameter from bar, and up to 200mm for billet work.

What materials do you run for precision components?

We run a variety of materials including carbon alloys, aluminum, brass, stainless steel, high nickel alloys, and engineered plastics. We can also help you choose the best material for your application. And, even if you’re considering a material other than those materials.

What manufacturing accreditations do you have? What other quality assurance procedures do you use?

We are ISO 9001:2015 certified company. We also maintain a rigorous quality assurance program for automotive, aerospace, and medical industries that include process monitoring/charting, first article inspection, advanced product quality planning (APQP) including using the core tools (PPAP, FMEA, Part Submission Warrants, etc.), and machinist training programs. Our quality assurance procedures are designed to ensure that your parts are produced exactly to print each and every time. These standards are fundamental to the way we operate and demonstrate our ethos and commitment to quality control. You can learn more about the details of our program on our quality assurance page.

Can you ensure my designed component dimensions and tolerances are suitable for production?

Our team of experienced professionals can provide “Design for engineering” (DFM) support and let you know production feasibility. We know that when you’re testing your ideas, you need fast turn-around on quotes and we’re ready to help. You can read our production process page to understand the whole order progress detail.

What is your typical lead time? Can my parts be produced on a rush basis?

Including quoting, manufacturing, and shipping, our typical turnaround time for screw machine products is approximately four weeks, and our on-time delivery rate is over 98%. Depending on the circumstances (such as availability of tooling, gauges, and materials in the marketplace), we may be able to produce your parts on an expedited timeframe. Just ask!

Do you offer reverse engineering services or suggest cost saving measures?

Yes, we can extract design and engineering information from most manufactured components. We can assist with designing your part, selecting the best raw materials, and choosing the most effective machining protocols and finishing steps. Keeping the part’s end use in mind, we can often find a minor design tweak or a change in material or tolerance that can reduce your part’s cost without any reduction in quality or performance.

Do you offer other services, like finishing, assembly, packaging, and logistical support?

From finishing operations to logistical support, we have the capabilities and services needed to quickly and cost effectively produce your parts from start to finish. Our capabilities include anodizing, plating, grinding, finishing, assembly, warehousing, packaging, and just-in-time delivery. Our goal is to deliver a one-stop, hassle-free production process that saves time and money and leaves you free to focus on your business.

What kind of shipping method can be offered?

We offer international priority (UPS, FedEx, DHL) and economic (Ocean) shipping methods.

Can I get a reference from one of your customers?

We’re fortunate to have a large group of loyal customers, several of whom provided testimonials. If you’re looking for a specific type of reference, just let us know. Chances are, we have a customer who can answer all of your questions.

How to track the status of my order?

You can track your order status from our project manager or sales team via emails, and generally you will get a response within 12 hours. Or you can call our sales team hotline for any instant helps.

How do I request a quote?

We’ve designed our quotation process to be as simple, straightforward, and hassle-free as possible. Simply go to our contact us page and fill out the short web form. We’ll ask you a few quick questions about the turnaround time and quantity needed and give you a chance to briefly describe your project. We’ve also included a way to easily upload your drawing file. Of course, if you’d rather work by e-mail, fax, or phone, our contact page gives you all that information, too.

What formats of the files can you accept?

We can accept most of the 3D file formats like SolidWorks (.sldprt)/ ProE(.prt) / IGES(.igs) / STEP (.stp). We can also use 2D drawing (.pdf) or AutoCAD (.dwg) for quote against the parts with simple structure. All the other files formats are not listed above but can be read in AutoCAD/ProE/SolidWorks/ will be also fine for us.

How can I ensure my design is confidential?

We can sign the NDA (Non-disclosure Agreement) with our customers before quoting or placing an order.

How do I contact you by e-mail / phone/fax?

You can easily find our e-mail address and phone and fax numbers on our contact us page. We’ve also included a brief and easy-to-use web form that you can use to request a quote. However you choose to contact us, we look forward to hearing from you!
